Apparently, Tony Mcnary, a reporter at Atlanta station WGCL CBS46 has it out for Reynoldstown.
Many of you remember the highly inaccurate and just plain wrong story this local newsman did about the graffiti problem Eastern Atlanta in general and Reynoldstown in particular is currently suffering through. The neighborhood objections included assumptions from the reporter that this tagging was gang related and that the community condones and promotes this activity in some form or fashion. I really appreciate the stereotyping of gang activity in urban neighborhoods. That reporter should know better. Mr McNary found someone walking from the Marta station who said this was a form of art and self expression. Bullsh#@! After that erroneous and much hyped report, a minor uproar ensued within our neighborhood. WGCL received many, many emails from 20-30 of my fellow RTowners. After numerous phone calls and emails to and from some neighbors, CBS46 agreed to do a follow up report that would hopefully correct the misleading impressions of the previous night's story. The second story was markedly more positive as it showed the viewpoint of many frustrated property owners in our neighborhood. The RTown residents in that report (one of them being me) voiced their anger over the tagging that is really affecting the quality of life in our intown community. A resident actually emailed the reporter a security camera video of young emo kids in their black hoodies tagging the fence of his neighbor across the street. Yet, no further story on why suburban college age kids are painting everything that doesn't have legs in redeveloping neighborhoods in the city. I am still waiting for that story to be told.

Late last week, Zone 6 Police stopped a car on Wylie after it was spotted at the suspected "blah girl" taggers' house. In the sedan with two white kids from Chamblee, was a whole backseat full of spray paint. Because they were not caught in the act, their names were noted and, with a small lecture, they were sent on their way.
The arc of these stories will only be complete when a report on the reasons why suburban youth insist on perpetuating their particular kind of inane vandalism in neighborhoods such as ours is aired. Tony McNary, where are you now?
